AutoEngage is an AI communication platform built for franchised dealership groups, with a focus on the service side of the business: customer communication, retention, repair order growth, and fixed-ops revenue.
Our product is already running at national scale, including across every store for two of the five largest dealer groups. We are now building our sales development team and hiring Sales Development Representatives to help us reach more dealership groups that are ready to modernize service communication.
This is an early sales role at a company with proven customers, a focused market, and room for strong performers to grow into future Inside Sales or Regional Sales Manager roles.
About the location
This role is based in Hartford County, Connecticut. The role will begin remote from home while we finalize plans for a Hartford-area office. Once the office opens, we expect four days per week in office alongside the rest of the sales development team.
We are being direct about that sequence because it matters. If you want a permanently remote job, this is not it. If you want to help build a sales floor from the beginning, work alongside other SDRs, and get direct coaching from sales leadership, that is exactly what this role is designed to offer.
About the role
This is an outbound sales development role. Your job is to identify strong-fit dealership accounts, create interest, book qualified demos, and help our sales team start real conversations with service directors, general managers, dealer principals, and group-level operators. You will not be responsible for negotiating contracts or carrying deals through procurement.
You will report directly to the Director of Revenue and work closely with Regional Sales Managers in the field.
You will be selling into a market where the pain is real and easy to understand: customers who never get followed up with, declined services that are never revisited, and service customers who quietly defect to the shop down the road. The right SDR will turn what they know about how dealerships operate into high-quality outbound conversations.
What you'll do
- Prospect franchised dealerships and dealer groups across assigned markets.
- Reach service directors, general managers, dealer principals, and corporate dealership leaders by phone, email, LinkedIn, and Salesloft.
- Book qualified demos for the sales team.
- Research accounts before outreach so your messaging sounds relevant, not canned.
- Use HubSpot to maintain clean account, contact, activity, and meeting records.
- Work with Regional Sales Managers to support territory plans, field routes, and dealership-group opportunities.
- Build repeatable outbound plays around service communication, missed opportunities, retention, and repair order growth.
- Learn how larger dealership groups evaluate technology, expand products across rooftops, and make service-lane decisions.
What we're looking for
Two things matter most: you understand how a dealership actually works, and you are willing to do real outbound sales activity every day.
Strongest fit
- Experience selling into dealerships from the vendor, technology, or SaaS side. You already understand the buyer, the gatekeepers, and what makes fixed-ops leaders pay attention.
- Dealership experience in sales, service, BDC, or fixed ops, paired with a genuine interest in moving to the vendor side of the business.
Also strong
- B2B outbound experience in any industry where you cold-called operators and executives and booked meetings that turned into real pipeline.
What matters more than your background
- You understand how sales, service, BDC, and fixed ops work together inside a dealership.
- You are willing to do genuine cold outbound. If your experience is inbound follow-up with existing customers, you should know this role is different and be ready for that.
- You can research an account well enough that your first sentence is not generic.
- You are organized enough to work a territory systematically instead of chasing whoever answers.
- You are comfortable being measured on qualified meetings held.
Helpful but not required
- HubSpot, Salesloft, or similar sales tools.
- Prior cold outbound prospecting experience.
This role is probably not for you if
- You are looking for warm inbound leads.
- You do not want to make outbound calls every day.
- You are looking for a permanently remote position.
Tools you'll use
- HubSpot for CRM, account/contact management, meeting records, and pipeline visibility.
- Salesloft for outbound sales engagement, sequencing, calling, and follow-up.
- LinkedIn and approved research tools for account and contact research.
Compensation & benefits
- Base salary: $55,000-$60,000
- Target variable compensation: $30,000
- On-target earnings: $85,000-$90,000
- Compensation is uncapped
- Medical, dental, and vision benefit options for eligible employees
- Paid time off
- Paid company holidays
Variable compensation is earned through qualified demos held and closed-won rooftop kickers. SDRs are rewarded for creating real qualified sales opportunities, including additional upside when a sourced meeting turns into a multi-rooftop dealership group deal.
